US Alerts Citizens Of Possible Threats On Schools, Facilities In Nigeria

The United States government has warned its citizens in Nigeria of a potential security threat targeting American facilities and schools affiliated with the US.

Naija News reports that the alert was issued by the US Embassy in Abuja on Monday, urging Americans in the country to remain vigilant, avoid predictable routines, and review safety measures with their families.

The embassy, however, did not disclose details about the source or nature of the threat.

“The US embassy in Abuja informs US citizens of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the notice stated.

“Increasing awareness of your surroundings, avoiding predictable routines, and reviewing general security precautions with your family can help reduce your risk,” the statement read.

The warning comes amid rising global tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has placed its embassies across the Middle East on high alert as it closely monitors the situation and strengthens protective measures for its citizens abroad.

Authorities have also released emergency contact numbers for Nigerians living overseas to enable them to quickly reach their respective diplomatic missions as tensions continue to escalate in the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the emergency contacts were provided to assist Nigerians residing in or travelling across the Middle East in accessing immediate help from diplomatic missions if necessary.
