Embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Court of Appeal upheld his suspension.
Some online reports had earlier claimed that the appellate court affirmed the suspension of Anyanwu, along with the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature; National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; and Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha.
However, speaking with journalists shortly after the Court of Appeal delivered its ruling on the PDP Ibadan convention, Anyanwu rejected the claims, insisting that the issue of his suspension was never before the court.
According to him, “There was nothing like suspension. It was not before the court.”
Anyanwu also disclosed that preparations are underway for the party’s national convention, which he said is scheduled to take place between March 29 and 30.
Meanwhile, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the party has indicated plans to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal ruling.
